Video 2: Musica Practica
"The modern location for music is not the concert hall, but
the stage on which the musicians pass, in what is often a
dazzling display, from one source of sound to another"
Image-Music-Text Barthes (153)
I really liked this quote from Barthes because I feel like it relates to a lot of my art, especially this specific project. My art is definitely not being displayed in a "concert hall". I don't have a grand display where hundreds of people come to view my art. The public components of my art are not the driving force of my art. I post my projects online, but even there, they don't get much recognition.
Instead, my art mostly gets brought up when I am simply just talking to others about it. The audience for my project is not talented animators; it is my fellow artists and friends. Often, I talk to them about the private components of my project: where I get my ideas, what my process is for my projects. These are the components I am more concerned about, and what my audience can help me with. My videos are fairly simple, and I am not trying to reinvent animation. Instead, I am just looking at passing artists for their insight.
